FAQs

Got a Question? Here’s An Answer!

How many people do you impact with your charitable work?

The trust started over forty years ago, covering just the people of Stafford Borough but since then, we've expanded to cover the whole of Staffordshire. We've helped hundreds of people in all sorts of ways ranging from mobility scooters to home adaptations to specialist IT hardware and software as well as much needed family respite care.

If I need help, how long does it take for an application to be approved?

As soon as your application's received, it's sent out to all the trustees by e-mail for their consideration and once their replies are in, which is usually within a day or so, we get things moving for you. It's important that you give as much information as possible on the application form and if you're in any doubt about what's required, get in touch either by phone or by sending an e-mail using the contact us form.

Can I get someone else to make an application on my behalf?

No problem! A lot of people we deal with are not in a position to make an application themselves so we're more than happy for somebody such as a member of your family to do it for you. Many people get referred to us by professional agencies such as Social Services so if you happen to be working with for example an occupational therapist, they can easily do it for you as well.

Am I expected to make a contribution to the cost of something I'm applying for?

No, it's not absolutely necessary although it's a help. We're only a small charity and our income is limited but we always try and help out wherever possible. A lot of people come to us when all the usual avenues of support have drawn a blank and there’s nowhere else to turn to so don't worry, we will always do our best to help.

If I make a donation, how can I be sure that it's not going to get eaten up by expenses?

All our trustees give their time free of charge and don't charge for any expenses. Our running costs are therefore kept to an absolute minimum, meaning that well over 90% of our income is available for distribution each year - in fact, we're not that far off the 95% figure!

How do I claim Gift Aid on my donation?

We have two forms available for you to add Gift Aid to your donation when sending a cheque or using online banking - one for a one-off donation and one for making regular donations. If you're donating through PayPal or CAF (Charities Aid Foundation), Gift Aid is all part of the process.
